As one of the series of events marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, Where Mountains and Waters Connect - A Guizhou Audio-Visual Journey Promotion Activity in Bangkok” was successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 26, 2025. Organized by Guizhou Radio and Television Station with the assistance of Guizhou Colorful New Media Co., Ltd. and the International Communication Center of Guizhou Radio and Television Station, the event aimed to deepen cooperation between Guizhou and Thailand in the fields of media communication and cultural tourism, boost inbound tourism to Guizhou, and comprehensively enhance the international influence and appeal of Guizhou’s culture.

Focusing on China-Thailand cooperation in cultural tourism and the exchange of audio-visual content, this event promoted deeper collaboration between Guizhou and Thailand in areas such as joint creation of cultural content, sharing of media resources, and co-development of tourism products. Through interactive initiatives like promoting itineraries, mutual tourism resources exchanges, and cultural product cooperation, the event sought to foster closer ties bewteen Guizhou and Thailand. On site, Guizhou’s natural landscapes, ethnic culture, and its potential as a world-class tourism destination were vividly showcased to Thailand and the greater Southeast Asian market through displays such as intangible cultural heritage fashion shows, Guizhou photography exhibitions, local resource booths, and thematic promotional videos, etc.

More than a hundred guests gathered at the event, including representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, tourism industry associations, mainstream media, travel agencies, Thai online influencers, and youth delegates. Ms. Tharinee Somboon, Deputy Director-General of the East Asia Division of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, delivered a welcoming speech. She stated that the year 2025 marks both the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and Thailand’s “Grand Year of Amazing Tourism and Sports.” She expressed her hope that this exchange activity would further strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and Thailand in tourism, culture, arts, and education, and—like Guizhou’s magnificent bridges—serve as a link for communication and interaction between the peoples of both countries.

Huang Bei, Deputy Director of the International Communication Center and Deputy Director of the Satellite TV Center of Guizhou Radio and Television Station, delivered a keynote presentation. She skilfully connected the rich culinary cultures of both regions and, referencing Guizhou’s engineering marvel of “bridges soaring across thousands of valleys,” the vibrant atmosphere of its “village” brand activities, and the province’s open spirit of welcoming friends from afar, vividly told the story of a dynamic, vibrant, and open Guizhou, extending a sincere invitation to the Thai audience.

Ms. Amornpan, Sales & Marketing Manager of Seasons Holiday Booking Center Co., Ltd., introduced Guizhou’s tourism resources from the industry perspective and shared tourism products and itineraries tailored for the Thai market. Thai influencer Dinomark recounted his travels in Guizhou, recommending local attractions and delicacies, and provided practical travel tips on topics such as clothing and transportation. Mr. Napat Sirithum, director of the documentary A Banquet from Guizhou, and Chef Chumpol Jangprai shared their creative experiences regarding Guizhou’s culinary culture and local customs during the film’s production. Zhang Qianyu, head of Mo Shan Xu, introduced the development and global promotion of Guizhou’s matcha industry.

The event featured a special “Thai Perspective for Guizhou Patterns—Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Interactive Show,” which deepened cultural exchanges through displays of heritage costumes and interactive quizzes. The event concluded successfully with the duet performance of the Chinese-Thai song “Shaking Hands with the World” by young performers from both countries, supported by artificial intelligence-assisted creation. This work, which blends modern technology with traditional emotions, concluded the entire exchange event with a profoundly moving melody brimming with a sense of futurism. It vividly embodied the beautiful vision of the hearts and minds of the Chinese and Thai people being interconnected and of both nations advancing hand in hand.

The event received high comments from participants. A reporter from Asian Journal News commented, “This event not only showcased Guizhou’s rich tourism resources, but also built a platform for China-Thailand cultural exchange.” Renowned Thai travel blogger Kontidtiew remarked, “Through today’s audio-visual feast, I was deeply impressed by the unique charm of Guizhou, especially the intangible cultural heritage costumes and the stunning bridges featured in the promotional video. I can’t wait to visit Guizhou in person to capture these wonderful sights with my camera.”

This trip to Bangkok represents an important practice by the International Communication Center of Guizhou Radio and Television Station in line with Guizhou’s goal of building a world-class tourist destination, advancing its “Colorful Guizhou” brand’s international strategy, and strengthening its global communication capabilities. The event further broadened Guizhou’s communication channels in Southeast Asia and fostered a favorable atmosphere for people-to-people exchanges to commemorate the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations. With audio-visual exchanges as the bridge and mutual learning of cultures, Guizhou is embracing the world with a more open posture, forging connections with the globe and the future.
